The Punjab government declared on Friday that all public and private schools throughout the province will resume classes on Monday, August 24. Alongside this announcement, the provincial school education department released updated operating hours for educational institutions.
The revised schedule for government schools will be implemented from August 24 through October 15, 2026, as outlined in an official notification by the Punjab School Education Department. Under the new timings, single-shift schools will hold classes from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Friday sessions concluding earlier at 12:45 p.m.
For schools operating in double shifts, the morning session will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Fridays. The afternoon shift will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, while on Fridays it will start at 2:00 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m.
In a significant development, the Punjab School Education Department has instructed chief executive officers and district education authorities to ensure strict adherence to the updated schedule. This directive comes amid circulating rumors on social media suggesting an extension of summer holidays and prolonged school closures.
The education department clarified that all educational institutions across Punjab will reopen on August 24 as planned. The formal issuance of the revised timings confirms that regular academic activities will resume on Monday.
Parents and students are encouraged to follow the new timetable and reach out to their respective schools or district education offices for any specific guidance related to their institutions.
