In a significant development aimed at enhancing the convenience of pension disbursement, a new digital “Proof of Life” system has been introduced for national pensioners. This innovative platform leverages biometric and facial recognition technologies to verify pensioners’ identities through a mobile application, simplifying the process of pension withdrawal.
The system was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a ceremony held in Islamabad on Thursday. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to national progress, the prime minister highlighted that this initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve public services and ensure the welfare of senior citizens across the country.
Notably, the “Proof of Life” application is designed to authenticate pensioners remotely, eliminating the need for physical presence and reducing bureaucratic hurdles. This modernization is expected to benefit millions, making pension collection more accessible and secure. The prime minister described the biometric and facial verification system as a “service to humanity,” underscoring its importance in facilitating smoother pension management.
During the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar, and Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal for their roles in bringing this project to fruition. The collaboration between the government and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been pivotal in developing this cutting-edge solution, which marks a significant step forward in digital governance and public service delivery.
