In a thrilling display of power hitting during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Fakhar Zaman shattered the record for the most sixes by a Pakistani batter in T20 internationals. The left-handed opener achieved this milestone in the Super Eight stage against Sri Lanka, surpassing the previous mark held by Mohammad Rizwan. Fakhar’s record-breaking six came off the bowling of Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana early in the innings, setting the tone for Pakistan’s aggressive approach.

Fakhar’s towering hit in the third over not only energized the Pakistani batting lineup but also firmly established him as the premier six-hitter in Pakistan’s T20 history. Before this match, Rizwan had held the record with 95 sixes, a testament to his consistency and power over 106 matches. Fakhar’s new tally now stands at 99 sixes across 120 matches, highlighting his evolution as a destructive force at the top of the order.

Promoted to open the innings, Fakhar Zaman formed a formidable partnership with Sahibzada Farhan, who supported the charge with steady stroke play. Together, they laid a solid foundation, amassing an impressive 176 runs that put Pakistan in a commanding position against the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Their partnership was crucial in keeping the opposition bowlers under pressure and setting a challenging target for the visitors.

Fakhar’s innings was a blend of power and precision, as he scored 84 runs off just 42 deliveries. His knock included four sixes and nine boundaries, showcasing his ability to find gaps and clear the ropes with ease. Despite his eventual dismissal, Fakhar’s contribution was pivotal in maintaining Pakistan’s momentum. At the time of reporting, Pakistan had reached 179 runs for the loss of two wickets in 16.4 overs, well on course for a competitive total.

This record-breaking feat places Fakhar Zaman ahead of some of Pakistan’s finest T20 batsmen in terms of six-hitting prowess. Following him are other notable players like Babar Azam, who has struck 80 sixes in 145 matches, Mohammad Hafeez with 76 sixes in 119 matches, and the legendary Shahid Afridi, who hit 73 sixes in 98 matches. Fakhar’s achievement underscores his importance to Pakistan’s batting lineup and his ability to change the course of a game with his aggressive style.

As the tournament progresses, Fakhar Zaman’s form and record-breaking performance will undoubtedly boost Pakistan’s confidence. His ability to dominate bowlers and accelerate the innings early on is a valuable asset for the team’s aspirations in the World Cup. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if he can continue this remarkable run and help Pakistan chase down or set imposing targets in the matches ahead.
