Sahibzada Farhan Sets New Record as Top Run-Scorer in ICC T20 World Cup 2026

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s talented batsman Sahibzada Farhan has etched his name in cricketing history by becoming the highest run-scorer in a single edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. This remarkable achievement sees him surpassing the previous benchmarks set by cricketing legends Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, who had dominated the tournament in earlier years. Kohli had amassed 319 runs in the 2014 World Cup, while Babar Azam had scored 258 runs in the same competition, both setting high standards for consistency and skill.

Farhan’s rise to the top of the run-scoring charts has been a major highlight for Pakistan in this ongoing tournament. His consistent performances with the bat have played a crucial role in Pakistan’s campaign, showcasing his ability to handle pressure and deliver when it matters most. As of now, he holds the record for the most runs scored by any player in a single T20 World Cup edition, a testament to his talent and determination.

In the initial stages of the tournament, Farhan made a strong impression by accumulating 220 runs across his first four matches, quickly establishing himself as the leading run-scorer at that point. Among his standout innings was an unbeaten century against Namibia, which demonstrated his capacity to anchor the innings and accelerate when required. Additionally, he contributed significantly with a 73-run knock against the USA and a solid 47 against the Netherlands. Despite a rare setback where he was dismissed for a duck against India, Farhan maintained an impressive average of 73.33 during the group phase, reflecting his overall consistency and resilience.

Moving into the Super 8 stage, Farhan continued his fine form by adding 63 valuable runs against England. This innings pushed his total tally beyond 220 runs, further cementing his position as the tournament’s top run-getter. His ability to perform against strong bowling attacks has been crucial for Pakistan’s progress and has earned him widespread praise from cricket analysts and fans alike.

It is worth noting that breaking records set by players of the caliber of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam is no small feat. Both players have been pillars of their respective teams and have consistently delivered in major tournaments. Farhan’s achievement not only highlights his personal growth but also signals Pakistan’s emerging strength in the shortest format of the game. As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on him to see if he can continue this extraordinary run and lead Pakistan to further success.
