Over Nine Terrorists Killed in Separate Balochistan Intelligence Operations

Security forces eliminated over nine terrorists during multiple intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in various parts of Balochistan, officials confirmed on Tuesday. These operations took place in the districts of Ziarat, Harnai, and Surab as part of Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3.

In a significant development, a major IBO was launched in the mountainous region between Ziarat and Harnai following a credible tip-off. The terrorists’ hideout was encircled, resulting in the deaths of eight militants and the destruction of their base. Meanwhile, in Hajika village of Surab district, security forces killed one terrorist after tracking militant movements between Dasht Katai and Hajika areas.

Recovered from the slain terrorists were ammunition, magazines, hand grenades, walkie-talkies, a motorcycle, and other equipment. Authorities emphasized that operations will persist relentlessly until terrorism is completely eradicated and lasting peace is established in the region.

These actions follow recent encounters where security forces killed two terrorists and injured three others during an IBO in Balochistan’s Killi Zaik area. Just a day earlier, seven India-backed terrorists were neutralized in an operation in Kharan district.

Since 2021, after the Afghan Taliban assumed power, Pakistan has experienced a notable rise in terrorist activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan provinces. A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) highlighted that these two provinces remained the primary hotspots for violence in the second quarter of 2026, with KP being the most affected.

The report revealed that KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all fatalities related to violence during this period. KP alone recorded over 61% (475) of the deaths, while Balochistan accounted for 34% (265). KP also reported the highest number of violent incidents, totaling 151 cases or 57% of the national figure, followed by Balochistan with 94 incidents, representing 35%. This data underscores the concentration of militant activities in these two provinces.
