Imran Khan’s Eye Nearly Normal After Treatment, Jail Report Submitted to SC

The superintendent of Adiala jail has presented a two-page report to the Supreme Court outlining the health status of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan, along with details of his meetings with his wife and legal counsel.

Submitted on Monday, the report confirms that Imran undergoes regular medical examinations by jail medical officers and multiple government-appointed doctors. Provisions have also been made for consultations with specialists as needed.

Regarding family visits, the report states that Imran and his wife, Bushra Bibi, are permitted to meet every Tuesday in line with prison regulations. To date, they have met 84 times within the facility.

It also notes that Imran’s lawyer Salman Safdar visited him on February 10 and April 4, 2026. Furthermore, the jail superintendent referenced a commitment made by lawyer Salman Akram Raja before the Islamabad High Court, promising not to engage with the media inside the jail after meeting Imran. However, the report alleges that media interactions occurred in violation of this order.

Additionally, the report cites a ruling by an Islamabad High Court single-member bench in the Sher Afzal case, which declared “Rule 265 of the jail rules” unlawful. The jail authorities claim that conversations during meetings have been exploited to stir public opinion against the judiciary, foreign policy, and law enforcement agencies.

On the matter of Imran’s health, the report details that medical officers conduct examinations three times daily, including monitoring his food and fluid intake. Records of his health assessments by numerous government doctors are being maintained systematically.

Special attention is given to Imran’s eyesight, with the report confirming ongoing treatment by an ophthalmologist. Notably, it states that one of his eyes has now returned to an almost normal condition following treatment.

The report also summarizes medical evaluations performed by 39 different specialists between November 4, 2023, and August 10, 2026.

This submission precedes a Supreme Court hearing scheduled for Tuesday, where a three-member bench led by Justice Shahid Waheed will review the petition concerning Imran’s health and visitation rights.

The court is expected to scrutinize the jail authorities’ report alongside concerns raised about the quality of medical care, access to family and lawyers, and the rules regulating meetings within the prison. While the report presents the jail administration’s perspective, the allegations about meetings being used to influence public sentiment remain claims pending judicial evaluation.
