Pakistan Airspace Fully Operational Amid Middle East Tensions; Flight Traffic Stable

On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Pakistan’s airspace continues to operate without interruption, maintaining full security despite rising tensions in the Middle East. The Pakistan Airports Authority has confirmed that all air traffic over the country is proceeding smoothly, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for both domestic and international flights. This reassurance comes amid growing concerns about regional instability that have affected neighboring airspaces.

In a related development, the Iranian government has announced a temporary closure of its airspace from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PKT) due to heightened security concerns. This restriction has prompted Pakistani aviation authorities to remain vigilant and prepared for any potential impact on air traffic patterns. While overflight traffic through Pakistan remains normal at present, officials have indicated that an extension of Iran’s closure could lead to increased air traffic within Pakistan’s skies, particularly during peak hours.

To address this possibility, the Pakistan Airports Authority has proactively informed airlines and air traffic controllers about the situation, ensuring that all parties are ready to implement necessary adjustments. The authority has also confirmed its capability to manage additional flights during nighttime hours, should the need arise. Passenger safety remains the foremost priority, with all operational procedures closely monitored and aligned with international aviation standards.

Currently, all scheduled flights—both domestic and international—are operating as planned without any reported disruptions. The Airports Authority has emphasized that contingency plans are firmly in place to handle any sudden changes in airspace availability or flight operations. Travelers have been advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for any last-minute updates, although no significant delays or cancellations are anticipated at this time.

Furthermore, the authority has urged airlines and pilots to maintain close communication with air traffic control to facilitate a seamless flow of flights during the Iranian airspace closure. This coordination is critical to managing air traffic efficiently and minimizing any potential inconvenience to passengers. The situation continues to be closely monitored by aviation officials, and further announcements will be issued promptly should there be any changes affecting Pakistan’s airspace or flight schedules.
