Yemen Government Condemns Houthi Attacks Targeting Marib Residential Areas

Yemen’s Ministry of Information has strongly condemned recent missile and drone attacks launched by Houthi forces targeting residential neighborhoods in the city of Marib. The government described these strikes as a severe escalation in the ongoing conflict, emphasizing the grave threat they pose to civilian lives. Marib, a strategic city in Yemen, has been a focal point of intense fighting between government forces and Houthi rebels for years. The attacks have not only caused casualties but also heightened the sense of insecurity among the local population.

In a significant development, the government highlighted that these assaults exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation in the region. Marib hosts a large number of internally displaced persons who fled violence in other parts of Yemen, making the impact of such attacks even more devastating. The Ministry of Information called on the international community to intervene and pressure the Houthis to cease targeting civilian areas. This escalation risks undermining fragile peace efforts and prolonging the conflict.

Meanwhile, the ongoing hostilities in Marib reflect the broader complexities of Yemen’s civil war, which has caused one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. The government’s denunciation underscores the urgent need for renewed dialogue and conflict resolution to protect civilians and restore stability. Without a halt to such attacks, the suffering of Yemen’s population is likely to deepen, further complicating efforts to deliver aid and rebuild the war-torn country.
