The federal government has announced a revision in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, effective from Thursday. This adjustment comes as part of the routine review process to align fuel costs with market conditions and regulatory recommendations.
In a notable change, the price of petrol has been decreased by Rs0.94 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs324.98 per litre. This reduction offers some relief to consumers amid fluctuating global oil prices and domestic economic challenges. Conversely, the cost of high-speed diesel has seen an increase of Rs0.54 per litre, raising its price to Rs382.79 per litre. This rise reflects adjustments in supply and demand dynamics as well as regulatory considerations.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) played a key role in this update by submitting its recommendations to the federal government, which were then approved and implemented immediately. These changes are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain a balance between market stability and consumer affordability.
These revised fuel prices will remain in effect until the next scheduled review, which is expected to take place tomorrow. Such frequent adjustments are common in the country’s fuel pricing mechanism, aiming to respond promptly to international oil price movements and currency fluctuations.
