Karachi’s Sea View Opens for Independence Day with Concert and Fireworks

Karachi residents will be able to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day at Sea View, where the area and surrounding roads will remain accessible to the public, confirmed SSP South Mahzoor Ali. A musical concert is planned at Nishan-e-Pakistan within Sea View as part of the festivities, followed by a fireworks display scheduled for midnight.

In a significant development, traffic and district police are collaborating on a comprehensive security and traffic management strategy to ensure smooth visitor access and maintain order throughout the celebrations. Authorities have issued stern warnings against hooliganism, aerial firing, and motorcycle riders who remove their silencers, emphasizing strict enforcement.

Additional police forces will be deployed not only at Sea View but also along adjoining routes and the Red Zone to bolster security arrangements during the event. Last year, Karachi commemorated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with extensive patriotic activities citywide. Prominent landmarks were adorned in green and white, while citizens, especially youth and children, enthusiastically participated in celebrations featuring national songs, flags, and traditional observances.

The day’s events commenced with a 21-gun salute and special prayers for the nation’s peace and prosperity. At Mazar-i-Quaid, ceremonial guard duties were performed by Pakistan Naval Academy cadets. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Governor Muhammad Kamran Tessori, and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab also visited the mausoleum to hoist the national flag and lay floral wreaths.

One of the highlights was the 10th Freedom Drive, organized by the Motor Club of Pakistan and the Antique Cars Museum of Pakistan. This rally showcased vintage cars, heavy motorcycles, and decorated vehicles traveling from Frere Hall to Mazar-i-Quaid.

Educational institutions across Karachi marked the occasion with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, and award presentations. Schools and universities celebrated with national songs, cake-cutting events, and tributes to Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Official ceremonies were also held at the Sindh Assembly, Pakistan Airports Authority, and Motorway Police. Additionally, Pakistan Railways’ Karachi Division recorded the departure of 14 freight trains on the day, underscoring the city’s active participation in the national celebration.
