Pakistan Intensifies Cross-Border Military Campaign Against Afghan Taliban Strongholds

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has intensified its ongoing military campaign against Afghan Taliban positions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, following a series of what Islamabad describes as unprovoked hostile actions originating from across the frontier. The military operation, which remains active, has reportedly inflicted substantial losses on Taliban forces and caused widespread damage to their infrastructure on the Afghan side.

The offensive, officially designated as “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq,” was initiated as a direct response to recent attacks launched by militants from Afghan territory. Pakistani security officials emphasize that their forces have executed a robust and decisive counterattack aimed at neutralizing these threats and restoring stability along the volatile border region. This marks a significant escalation in military activity between the two neighbours, reflecting heightened tensions that have been simmering for months.

statements released by the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation has resulted in the elimination of at least 274 Afghan Taliban fighters. In addition to personnel losses, Pakistani forces have reportedly destroyed 150 tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery units, and 73 Taliban-controlled border posts. These figures underscore the scale and intensity of the military engagement, highlighting the Pakistani army’s commitment to dismantling militant infrastructure in the border areas.

Security officials further revealed that Pakistani troops successfully targeted several key Taliban installations, including the Ariana Complex, the Dabgai check post, a police headquarters facility, and the Zakarkhel post. These strategic locations were critical to Taliban operations in the region, and their destruction has forced militant groups to retreat from multiple positions under sustained Pakistani firepower. The operation continues unabated, with military sources affirming that it will proceed until all objectives are fully achieved.

Pakistan has long accused the Afghan Taliban government of providing sanctuary and support to militant groups responsible for attacks inside Pakistani territory, allegations that Kabul has consistently denied. This latest military action represents one of the most serious confrontations between the two countries in recent months, signaling a potential shift in the security dynamics along their shared border. The situation remains fluid, with Islamabad maintaining a firm stance on safeguarding its sovereignty and combating cross-border militancy.
