DG ISPR Addresses Media on Latest Developments in Pakistan-Afghanistan Border Tensions

In a significant development concerning regional security, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, convened a detailed press briefing to update the nation on the current situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The press conference, held at 4 pm, focused on the escalating tensions and ongoing military operations in response to recent hostile actions by the Afghan Taliban regime.

Lt Gen Chaudhry provided an in-depth overview of Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, which remains active as Pakistani forces continue their strategic offensive against Taliban positions. This operation was launched following what military officials have characterized as an unprovoked and aggressive attack by the Afghan Taliban on Pakistani territory the previous night. The DG ISPR emphasized the resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces to safeguard national sovereignty and maintain border security amid these challenging circumstances.

the military’s account, the retaliatory strikes have inflicted substantial damage on Taliban forces, with 133 militants reported killed and over 200 wounded in the counteroffensive. The operation has targeted key Taliban military infrastructure, including command centers, artillery units, and numerous check posts that were instrumental in facilitating cross-border attacks. The destruction of these assets marks a significant blow to the Taliban’s operational capabilities in the region.

Information Minister Atta Tarar also contributed to the briefing by highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting the military’s efforts and ensuring that the narrative of Pakistan’s defensive actions is clearly communicated to both domestic and international audiences. He underscored the necessity of a robust response to any threats emanating from across the border, stressing that Pakistan will not tolerate violations of its territorial integrity.

These developments come amid a broader context of strained relations between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime, which have seen intermittent flare-ups along the border in recent months. The ongoing Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq reflects Pakistan’s strategic approach to countering militant threats and stabilizing the volatile border areas. Observers note that the military’s decisive actions aim to deter future incursions and reinforce security for communities living near the frontier.

As the situation continues to evolve, the DG ISPR assured that the armed forces remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any further provocations. The press conference served not only to inform the public but also to reaffirm Pakistan’s stance on defending its borders and maintaining peace in the region through firm and measured military operations.
