DG ISPR Addresses Media on Intensifying Pakistan-Afghanistan Border Conflict

In a significant development concerning the escalating tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, convened a crucial press briefing to inform the public and media representatives about the current security situation. The press conference, held at 4 pm, focused on the ongoing military operations and the latest strategic responses by Pakistani forces in the wake of recent hostile actions by the Afghan Taliban.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry provided a detailed account of the unfolding events, emphasizing the continuation of Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, a decisive military campaign launched by Pakistan in response to what officials have described as an unprovoked and aggressive attack by the Afghan Taliban regime during the previous night. The operation aims to neutralize militant threats and restore stability along the volatile border region, which has witnessed a surge in cross-border violence in recent weeks.

Expanding on the military’s response, the DG ISPR highlighted the significant impact of Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes. He revealed that Pakistani forces have inflicted heavy losses on Taliban fighters, with 133 militants confirmed killed and more than 200 others wounded during the counteroffensive. These figures underscore the intensity and precision of the military’s efforts to dismantle Taliban infrastructure and disrupt their operational capabilities.

Furthermore, Lieutenant General Chaudhry elaborated on the strategic targets hit during the operation. Pakistani artillery units, armored tanks, and multiple Taliban check posts were systematically destroyed, severely weakening the militant group’s hold over key positions along the border. The destruction of these military headquarters and logistical hubs marks a critical blow to the Taliban’s ability to coordinate attacks and maintain control over contested areas.

Information Minister Atta Tarar also contributed to the briefing by corroborating the military’s account and stressing the government’s commitment to safeguarding national security. He reiterated that Pakistan’s response was measured yet firm, aimed at deterring further aggression while minimizing civilian casualties. The minister called for continued vigilance and cooperation from local communities to support security forces in their ongoing efforts.

It is worth noting that the situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border remains highly fluid, with both sides maintaining heightened alertness amid fears of further escalation. The Pakistani military’s proactive stance through Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq reflects a broader strategy to counter insurgent threats and stabilize the region, which has long been plagued by militant activity and cross-border incursions.

As the operation progresses, authorities have assured the public that updates will be provided regularly to ensure transparency and keep citizens informed about security developments. The press conference by DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry serves as a critical communication channel, reinforcing the military’s resolve to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and maintain peace along its western frontier.
