PAF Unveils Indigenous Multi-Domain Kill Chain, Marking New Era in Air Defence

In a significant development underscoring Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) evolving strategic capabilities, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, the Chief of the Air Staff, announced the establishment of a distinctive, home-grown multi-domain Kill Chain. This announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Air Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where the PAF also marked the seventh anniversary of Operation Swift Retort, a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s modern air warfare history.

The commemoration served as a reminder of the professionalism, resilience, and precise response demonstrated by the PAF during the operation. Air Chief Marshal Sidhu emphasized Pakistan’s stance as a responsible nation that seeks peace but remains steadfast in defending its sovereignty with dignity. Reflecting on the events of seven years ago, he recalled how an adversary had misjudged Pakistan’s determination by launching a surprise attack under the cover of darkness. The PAF’s swift and measured daylight retaliation not only reaffirmed the country’s deterrence capabilities but also sent a clear message about its readiness to counter threats from numerically superior forces.

Transitioning to the present security landscape, the Air Chief highlighted the increasingly complex global and regional threats that have reshaped the nature of warfare. Despite facing financial limitations since March 2021, the PAF has aggressively pursued a comprehensive modernization agenda. This includes the induction of cutting-edge combat and support systems, many of which have been developed indigenously. The integration of advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems, Electronic Warfare tools, as well as Space and Cyber assets, has allowed the PAF to recalibrate its operational doctrine, effectively transforming it into a Next Generation Air Force.

Central to this transformation is the creation of the multi-domain Kill Chain, a sophisticated network that seamlessly links various domains of warfare to deliver rapid and decisive effects against adversaries. This home-grown system represents a significant leap forward in Pakistan’s defense technology, enabling the PAF to conduct coordinated operations across air, cyber, electronic, and space environments.

Looking ahead, the Air Chief referenced the Marka-e-Haq operation in May 2025, where Pakistan’s sovereignty was once again challenged. During this engagement, the PAF executed full-spectrum multi-domain operations with precision and overwhelming force. The operation saw the downing of several advanced enemy aircraft, including Rafale, SU-30 MKI, Mirage-2000, MiG-29 fighters, and multiple Unmanned Aerial Systems. Moreover, the PAF successfully carried out deep strikes within hostile territory, neutralizing critical enemy air defense systems such as the S-400 along with their Command and Control Centers.

Reaffirming the PAF’s unwavering commitment to national security, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu stated that the force will continue to serve as a beacon of pride for Pakistan. The PAF aims to maintain credible deterrence while adopting a vigilant yet responsible defense posture, ensuring the country’s sovereignty remains inviolable in an ever-changing security environment.
