DG ISPR to Update Media on Latest Developments at Pak-Afghan Border Today

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), is scheduled to hold a significant press briefing today to shed light on the evolving security situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. This conference comes at a critical juncture as tensions have escalated due to recent cross-border incidents, prompting heightened military vigilance and strategic responses.

The briefing, set for 4:00 PM, will cover a range of important topics including the latest developments on the frontier, the security measures currently in place, and the Pakistan Army’s operational activities aimed at safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity. Representatives from various media outlets will be present to receive detailed information and will have the opportunity to engage with the DG ISPR through a question-and-answer session, ensuring transparency and clarity regarding the ongoing situation.

This press conference is intended to provide the public and stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of the circumstances that have led to increased military action along the border. Officials emphasize that the update will clarify Pakistan’s stance and response to recent provocations, particularly in light of cross-border firing incidents attributed to the Afghan Taliban. The military’s efforts to maintain peace and security in this sensitive region will be a focal point of the discussion.

In response to what Pakistan has described as unprovoked attacks by the Afghan Taliban, the Pakistan Armed Forces have launched a decisive campaign named Operation Ghazab lil-Haq. This operation includes targeted airstrikes conducted by the Pakistan Air Force against key Taliban military installations located in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia provinces. These strikes have been acknowledged by the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan, marking a significant escalation in military engagement between the two sides.

Political leaders across the spectrum have voiced their strong support for the armed forces during this tense period. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and prominent figures from the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have all expressed unity in backing the military’s efforts to defend Pakistan’s borders. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has openly accused the Taliban of acting as proxies to export terrorism into Pakistan, highlighting the broader security challenges facing the country.

As the situation continues to develop, the DG ISPR’s briefing is expected to provide vital insights into Pakistan’s strategic and operational responses. The military’s commitment to protecting the nation’s sovereignty remains unwavering, and this press conference will serve as a key platform to communicate these efforts to the public and international observers alike.
