Pakistan Condemns Gaza Violence and Ceasefire Breaches at OIC Summit in Riyadh

Pakistan has voiced a strong condemnation of the escalating violence and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, denouncing what it described as acts of genocide and persistent violations of the ceasefire agreement. At a high-level gathering of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Riyadh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan’s firm stance against the deteriorating situation. He highlighted the urgent need for an end to hostilities and called for renewed international efforts to restore peace in the region.

During his address, Ishaq Dar underscored the deep concern shared by Arab and Islamic nations regarding repeated breaches of the fragile truce in Gaza. He emphasized that Pakistan unequivocally condemns these violations, which have exacerbated the suffering of civilians and undermined prospects for lasting peace. Dar described the current conditions in Gaza as “unbearable,” pointing to Israel’s aggressive policies and expansionist actions as unacceptable and detrimental to regional stability.

Expanding on Pakistan’s perspective, the deputy prime minister stressed the critical role that the OIC must play in fostering peace, development, and cooperation among Muslim-majority countries. He warned that Israeli military aggression and the establishment of illegal settlements in Palestinian territories remain serious challenges that threaten the unity and well-being of the Muslim Ummah. Dar’s remarks reflected Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to supporting Palestinian rights and sovereignty.

Furthermore, Dar urged the international community to take immediate and concrete measures to halt the violence and facilitate the reconstruction of Gaza, which has suffered extensive damage due to ongoing conflict. He noted that Pakistan is actively engaging with allied nations to coordinate efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable ceasefire and providing humanitarian assistance to those affected. The deputy prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan’s government continues to back the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state as a just solution to the decades-long conflict.

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has consistently championed this principled position at various international platforms, advocating for the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people. The OIC meeting in Riyadh provided a crucial forum for Muslim countries to unite in addressing the Gaza crisis and to explore collaborative strategies for peace and reconstruction. Pakistan’s active participation underscores its dedication to promoting stability and justice in the region amid a complex geopolitical landscape.
