President Zardari and PM Shehbaz Affirm Armed Forces’ Strength Against Any Threats

In a strong and unified message on Thursday, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the unwavering strength and preparedness of Pakistan’s armed forces to counter any hostile actions against the country. Both leaders emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to peace and stability but will respond decisively to any threats compromising its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

President Zardari, addressing the recent tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, made it clear that Pakistan will not tolerate any attempts to undermine its national security. He stressed that the Pakistani nation, alongside its military, stands firmly united like an impenetrable wall to safeguard the country’s borders and uphold its regional integrity. The President cautioned against any misconception that Pakistan’s pursuit of peace could be mistaken for weakness, warning that such misjudgments would be met with a robust and timely response.

Elaborating on the capabilities of the armed forces, President Zardari pointed out that Pakistan’s military is fully equipped with comprehensive and decisive response mechanisms designed to thwart any hostile designs. He reiterated that while Pakistan does not seek conflict, it remains vigilant and prepared to defend itself against aggression. The President also recalled the ongoing challenges posed by the Taliban regime and its affiliates, particularly the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who have perpetrated terrorist attacks within Pakistan despite the country’s support and diplomatic overtures.

He further highlighted that over the past five years, despite Pakistan’s efforts and the involvement of friendly neighboring countries to encourage the Taliban to abandon violence, these attempts have largely been unsuccessful. The recent cross-border attacks by this group represent a direct challenge to Pakistan’s sovereignty. President Zardari revealed that stern warnings were issued to the Taliban regime following significant attacks, including the February 8 suicide bombing at a mosque in Islamabad and another warning on February 22, underscoring Pakistan’s resolve to hold those responsible accountable. He made it clear that Pakistan is fully aware of the locations of the planners and sponsors behind these violent acts and will take necessary measures if the bloodshed continues.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed the President’s sentiments, affirming the full capability of Pakistan’s armed forces to neutralize any aggressive moves. Responding to recent unprovoked firing incidents across the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Prime Minister assured the nation that both the people and the military are steadfast in protecting Pakistan’s security and territorial integrity. He praised the leadership of Army Chief and Chief of Defence Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, under whose guidance the military operates with enhanced professionalism and national spirit.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that the armed forces are equipped with advanced training, modern defense strategies, and the necessary skills to effectively confront any internal or external threats. He vowed that no compromise would be made when it comes to defending the homeland, and every act of aggression would be met with a firm and decisive response. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing commitment to peace but made it clear that the country will not tolerate any violations of its sovereignty. He concluded by stating that the entire nation stands united with the armed forces in safeguarding Pakistan’s borders and maintaining its territorial integrity.

These statements come at a time of heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, underscoring the government’s resolve to maintain peace while remaining vigilant against any attempts to destabilize the region. The coordinated message from the highest offices of the country serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s readiness to defend itself against any threats and its determination to uphold peace and security for its citizens.
