In a decisive military response to unprovoked aggression from the Afghan Taliban, Pakistan has launched a large-scale counter-operation named ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq.’ The Pakistan Army reported eliminating at least 133 Taliban militants and injuring more than 200 during the operation, which targeted hostile positions along the volatile Pakistan-Afghanistan border. This swift and forceful retaliation underscores Islamabad’s commitment to protecting its territorial sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its citizens amid escalating cross-border tensions.

The operation involved coordinated efforts by the Pakistan Army and Air Force, resulting in the destruction of 27 Taliban posts and the capture of nine others. Pakistani forces also succeeded in neutralizing over 36 enemy tanks, artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers, forcing the Taliban to retreat and abandon numerous strategic hideouts. The Pakistan Air Force played a critical role by launching precision strikes that demolished key Taliban battalion and sector headquarters, as well as ammunition depots, further crippling the militant group’s operational capabilities. In a symbolic gesture of reclaiming control, Pakistani troops hoisted the national flag at seven recaptured Taliban posts.

Government officials highlighted the severity of the Taliban’s initial unprovoked attacks, which prompted the authorization of multiple counter-strikes. These retaliatory measures have been executed with precision, targeting Taliban infrastructure and personnel to send a clear message that any aggression against Pakistan will be met with immediate and overwhelming force. Security sources revealed that the Taliban also attempted to use quadcopters for attacks, but Pakistani forces successfully intercepted and shot down all such drones, demonstrating enhanced vigilance and technological preparedness on the border.

Following the setbacks on the battlefield, the Afghan Taliban reportedly shifted tactics by targeting civilian populations, a move condemned by Pakistani authorities. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar reaffirmed the government’s stance, emphasizing that all acts of aggression, whether military or against civilians, will be met with firm and decisive responses. This ongoing operation reflects Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to maintain peace and security along its western frontier despite persistent provocations.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed full confidence in the armed forces’ capability to counter any hostile designs against Pakistan. He underscored that the nation and its military stand united in defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Prime Minister’s remarks came in the wake of multiple Taliban attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the government’s determination to prevent any threats to national security from materializing.

Meanwhile, federal and provincial leaders condemned the Taliban’s actions and accused the Afghan regime of spreading misinformation to mask their battlefield losses. Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar described the Taliban’s propaganda as baseless and aimed at salvaging their reputation after suffering a humiliating defeat. Similarly, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon criticized Afghanistan’s ingratitude despite Pakistan hosting millions of Afghan refugees and providing assistance during times of crisis. He highlighted the ongoing threat posed by militants who have previously targeted innocent civilians and religious sites within Pakistan.

Political figures also pointed fingers at external influences, with MQM Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui alleging that the Afghan Taliban are acting as proxies for India in their attacks on Pakistan. This accusation adds a layer of complexity to the already tense situation along the border. Parliamentary Secretary for Information Barrister Daniyal Chaudhary reiterated Pakistan’s right to self-defense and stressed the country’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and fostering regional stability.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Army for its rapid and effective response to the Taliban’s aggression. She saluted the armed forces for delivering a strong and timely blow to the militants, ensuring that those who threaten Pakistan’s peace and security face humiliation and defeat. The Chief Minister’s remarks came as mortar shells fired from across the border injured five civilians, including three women, in Bajaur, highlighting the human cost of the ongoing conflict.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a statement condemning the Taliban’s miscalculation in initiating unprovoked firing along the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The ministry confirmed that Pakistani security forces responded swiftly and effectively, delivering heavy casualties to the Afghan side and destroying multiple Taliban check posts and military equipment. The operation continues across several sectors, including Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur districts, with Pakistani forces maintaining a strong defensive posture.

In a related development, the military’s media wing announced the killing of 10 terrorists during a follow-up sanitization operation in Zhob district of Balochistan, reflecting ongoing efforts to secure Pakistan’s borders from militant infiltration. As Operation Ghazab lil-Haq progresses, Pakistan remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard its territorial integrity and protect its citizens from external threats.
