Ukraine Hits Russian Oil Depots as Moscow Launches Major Missile Assault on Kyiv

Ukrainian forces carried out strikes on three oil depots and a fuel facility in Russia’s southern Stavropol region, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Sunday. These attacks are part of Kyiv’s ongoing campaign against Russian energy infrastructure.

Zelenskiy detailed that units from Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) were responsible for hitting the three oil depots, while the Ukrainian armed forces targeted an additional fuel facility within the same region. Furthermore, three Russian oil tankers, described as part of the so-called “shadow fleet,” were also struck in the Black Sea.

In a related military operation, Ukraine’s forces targeted two Russian oil tankers overnight in the Black Sea. The General Staff reported that a floating crane in the Sea of Azov was also damaged, emphasizing that these assets were being utilized to support Russia’s war efforts.

Meanwhile, Russia launched one of its most extensive missile attacks on Ukraine since the full-scale invasion began. Kyiv reported that Moscow fired approximately 40 ballistic missiles during an overnight assault.

Ukraine’s acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the attack on Kyiv, which resulted in civilian casualties, and urged the international community to increase pressure on Moscow.

The Ukrainian Air Force stated that its air defenses intercepted 18 out of 41 missiles launched by Russia. Despite this, 23 missiles and 10 drones struck 20 different locations, primarily targeting the capital city. Additionally, Ukrainian forces shot down 108 of 125 Russian drones during the attack.
