Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was honored with the Distinguished Service Medal, the highest military accolade of the Turkish Armed Forces, by Türkiye’s Chief of the General Staff, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu. The award ceremony took place in Ankara during Field Marshal Munir’s official two-day visit to the Turkish capital.
Field Marshal Munir arrived in Türkiye on July 13 to engage in important meetings with the country’s military and political leaders. This visit aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
In a significant development, the medal was presented in recognition of Field Marshal Munir’s strategic initiatives and military services that have contributed to bolstering bilateral defence cooperation. The citation highlighted his efforts in advancing joint military capabilities and deepening the security alliance between Pakistan and Türkiye’s armed forces.
The award ceremony was attended by senior military officials from both countries. It followed comprehensive bilateral and delegation-level talks focusing on mutual defence relations, regional security challenges, and future collaboration in military training and technological advancements.
