Pakistan Navy and PMSA Rescue 20 Crew from Flooded Vessel Near Ormara

The Pakistan Navy, working alongside the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), successfully rescued 20 Pakistani crew members from a cargo dhow that was taking on water east of Ormara. The military’s media wing confirmed the operation on Thursday.

The rescue mission was initiated after a distress signal was received by the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre, alerting authorities to the flooding vessel. In response, naval ship PNS Hunain and aerial units were promptly dispatched to the scene to conduct the rescue.

Rescue teams managed to safely evacuate all 20 crew members from the endangered dhow. After the operation, the rescued individuals were transported to a secure location where they are currently receiving medical care.

This operation underscores the Pakistan Navy and PMSA’s ongoing dedication to safeguarding lives at sea and their preparedness to act swiftly during maritime emergencies in the region.

Notably, this rescue follows a similar incident in April when the Pakistan Navy saved 18 crew members from a merchant ship in the North Arabian Sea. That earlier mission involved multinational crew members from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia, coordinated through the PMSA’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre.
