In a significant development, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) apprehended two individuals suspected of being militants linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) during an operation in Karachi on Tuesday. Authorities assert that the suspects were involved in intelligence gathering on critical installations and were plotting attacks against law enforcement personnel.
CTD’s Senior Superintendent of Police Irfan Bahadur stated that the arrests took place during a focused operation, resulting in the seizure of four kilograms of explosives, detonators, and ball bearings from the suspects’ possession.
Meanwhile, officials revealed that the detainees had reportedly undergone reconnaissance and communication training at a BLA camp. The suspects are believed to have been living in Karachi while relaying sensitive information about key installations to the banned organization.
Furthermore, the CTD alleged that the arrested men were attempting to build a terrorist network aimed at targeting law enforcement agencies. Bahadur confirmed that cases have been registered against the suspects under relevant laws at a CTD police station.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the extent of the suspects’ network and activities. Dedicated teams have been formed to identify and apprehend any accomplices linked to the militants.
