Saudi Arabia Launches Pilot Program for Package Visa to Boost Tourism

Saudi Arabia has initiated a pilot program for its new Package Visa, designed to streamline the process for tourists visiting the kingdom. This visa type allows travelers to obtain entry through pre-arranged travel packages, which typically include accommodation, transportation, and activities. The move is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to diversify its economy by expanding the tourism sector under its Vision 2030 plan.

Previously, Saudi Arabia’s visa policies were more restrictive, focusing mainly on religious pilgrims and business travelers. The introduction of the Package Visa pilot marks a significant shift toward welcoming leisure tourists, which is expected to increase international visitor numbers. By facilitating easier access through bundled travel deals, the kingdom aims to attract a wider range of tourists and boost local hospitality and service industries.

In a significant development for the region, this pilot program could set a precedent for future visa reforms that support sustainable tourism growth. If successful, the Package Visa may lead to permanent changes in Saudi Arabia’s visa framework, encouraging more global travelers to explore the country’s cultural and historical sites. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to position Saudi Arabia as a premier tourist destination in the Middle East.
