Iran Reappoints Mohseni Ejei as Judiciary Chief Amid Key Leadership Changes

Iran has formalized a significant leadership transition within its judicial and military frameworks. A state decree officially reappointed Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Mohseni Ejei as the head of the judiciary, underscoring continuity in the country’s legal leadership. The announcement was made public by Mojtaba Khamenei through his verified X account, where he expressed appreciation for Ejei’s dedicated service and confirmed his renewed mandate to lead the judiciary.

Meanwhile, Iranian state television revealed the appointment of Ali Ozmaei as the new commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy. This strategic role places Ozmaei in command of naval operations in the critical Strait of Hormuz and the broader Gulf region, areas vital to Iran’s maritime influence and energy transit routes.

Rear Admiral Ozmaei replaces Alireza Tangsiri, who was recently killed in an Israeli strike. This swift leadership change reflects Tehran’s urgency to maintain operational stability within the IRGC Navy, a key component of Iran’s defense and power projection capabilities in one of the world’s most geopolitically sensitive maritime corridors.
