Khawaja Asif Praises Pakistan’s Peace Efforts, Calls for Education Reform

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday highlighted Pakistan’s growing international reputation for promoting peace, urging the youth to pursue knowledge that transcends formal academic qualifications and to contribute constructively to society.

Speaking at an event, Asif commended the government, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for providing Pakistan with a renewed identity through notable successes on both military and diplomatic fronts. He asserted that Pakistan had emerged victorious in its conflict with India and played a crucial role in averting a broader regional war by championing peace.

These accomplishments, Asif noted, have elevated Pakistan’s stature on the global stage, positioning the country as a symbol of peace. He referred to the nation’s triumph in the so-called “Battle for Truth” (Marka-e-Haq) as a source of international admiration.

In a significant development, the defence minister described the past eighteen months as a historic period during which Pakistan achieved milestones unparalleled in its 78-year history. He emphasized that the successes in both military engagements and peace efforts would be remembered as landmark achievements.

Turning to education, Asif stressed the need to broaden access to quality education nationwide. He argued that education should not be confined to merely obtaining degrees, as possessing a degree does not necessarily equate to true knowledge. He underscored that a knowledgeable society is essential for sustainable progress and can never face bankruptcy in terms of development.

Addressing the audience, he pointed out that approximately 85 percent were girls and 15 percent boys, calling this a positive indicator for educational advancement. He urged educators, social workers, and other stakeholders to actively foster the growth of young people into responsible, productive citizens who can contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s development.
