Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Istanbul on Friday for a bilateral visit following an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The discussions are set to concentrate on enhancing trade, investment, and addressing regional security concerns.

At Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport, Sharif was warmly welcomed by Turkish Trade Minister Prof Dr Omer Bolat, Pakistan’s ambassador to Turkey Dr Yousaf Junaid, alongside senior officials from both nations. Accompanying the prime minister on this visit are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.

In a significant development, Sharif’s meeting with Erdogan will cover the entire scope of bilateral relations, with a special focus on boosting cooperation in trade and investment sectors. The leaders are also expected to deliberate on matters concerning regional peace and security.

During his stay, Sharif will address a business conference organized by Pakistan aimed at highlighting investment opportunities in key areas such as Special Economic Zones (SEZs), energy, information technology, and privatisation. This event is anticipated to attract Turkish business leaders, investors, senior government officials, and other stakeholders, as Pakistan endeavors to strengthen economic ties and draw foreign investment from Turkey.
