Cashless Payments Now Available at All Passport Offices Nationwide

ISLAMABAD: To improve citizen convenience, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi declared on Wednesday that cashless payment systems have been implemented at every passport office throughout the country. This initiative eliminates the need for applicants to endure long queues or extended waiting times for payment processing.

The minister emphasized that this reform was launched under the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with his team successfully executing the plan. He described this advancement as a significant move toward delivering faster, more transparent, and user-friendly public services. Naqvi expressed optimism about future achievements, stating that many more milestones are anticipated, InshaAllah.

He also commended the passport department staff for their dedication and encouraged them to maintain their excellent performance.

This announcement follows closely on the heels of an ambitious digital transformation initiative introduced by Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The program includes a passport mobile application, home delivery services, and QR code-based payment options designed to streamline processes, increase transparency, and eliminate corruption.

During a media briefing last Friday, the DG highlighted that the mobile app will allow citizens to apply for and renew passports online, monitor their application status, and access essential services conveniently via their smartphones. Additionally, the department is preparing to launch a home delivery service, enabling applicants to receive their passports directly at their residences, thereby minimizing the need for multiple visits to passport offices.
