The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convened a significant consultative session on Tuesday, led by party chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, to deliberate on the recently approved Federal Budget for the fiscal year 2026-27. This meeting aimed to refine the party’s proposals and political approach in response to the budgetary allocations and priorities outlined by the federal government.

Among the prominent attendees were former Sindh governor Kamran Tessori, along with senior party figures Dr. Farooq Sattar and Syed Aminul Haque. The gathering involved comprehensive discussions focusing on MQM-P’s budgetary recommendations and the formulation of a strategic plan to effectively advocate for the party’s demands at the federal level. This reflects MQM-P’s ongoing commitment to influencing fiscal policies that impact their constituencies.

In a notable development, the meeting also addressed constitutional amendments concerning Article 140-A, which pertains to local government empowerment. The party further explored plans for a dedicated development package aimed at urban Sindh, emphasizing the need for enhanced infrastructure and services in key metropolitan areas. Additionally, the strategy regarding the reinstatement of the Sindh governorship under MQM-P’s leadership was a critical topic of discussion, highlighting the party’s political ambitions within the province.

Furthermore, the participants resolved to actively engage with relevant authorities to ensure the timely completion of existing development projects. They also committed to securing new initiatives for major cities such as Karachi and Hyderabad under the new fiscal budget. This proactive approach underscores MQM-P’s focus on urban development and its efforts to translate budgetary provisions into tangible improvements for the people of Sindh.
