Zimbabwe Achieves Largest Test Victory Over Bangladesh at Harare

Zimbabwe delivered a commanding performance to secure an innings-and-85-run victory over Bangladesh in their one-off Test match held at Harare Sports Club. The match concluded inside just three days on Tuesday, marking Zimbabwe’s most significant Test win to date.

Bangladesh, tasked with overcoming a substantial first-innings deficit, struggled to build momentum in their second innings. Despite starting the day at 40-1, the visitors lost wickets rapidly and were eventually bowled out for 185 runs. Fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani was instrumental in dismantling the Bangladesh batting lineup, claiming four wickets for 65 runs. His efforts were well supported by Zimbabwe’s captain Richard Ngarava, who took three wickets for 32 runs, helping to seal the comprehensive victory.

Notably, no Bangladeshi batsman managed to reach a half-century in either innings, with Mushfiqur Rahim leading the scoring with 34 runs. Bangladesh’s struggles began early when they were dismissed for a mere 140 runs in their first innings after being asked to bat first. Zimbabwe then responded emphatically with a commanding total of 410 runs, establishing a dominant position that Bangladesh could not recover from.

Following this decisive Test encounter, both teams will now turn their attention to the upcoming limited-overs series, which includes three One Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals. This series will provide Bangladesh an opportunity to bounce back, while Zimbabwe will look to maintain their winning momentum in the shorter formats of the game.
