Ali Murtaza, a trader from Karachi who was fatally shot in a firing incident in Balochistan’s Dasht region, was laid to rest on Sunday. The business community has strongly called for justice, demanding immediate arrests and a thorough investigation into the killing.

Funeral prayers for Murtaza were held at Rahmaniya Mosque on Tariq Road, followed by his burial at Society Cemetery. The ceremony was attended by numerous family members, relatives, leaders of the trading community, and business representatives.

The trading fraternity condemned the attack, urging both the federal and Balochistan provincial governments to take swift action by apprehending those responsible and ensuring a transparent inquiry. Minhaj Gulfam, President of the Karachi Mobile Dealers Association, appealed to the government, the Balochistan administration, the army chief, and the interior minister to deliver justice for the slain trader.

He emphasized the urgent need to arrest the terrorists involved and bring them to account. Gulfam also mentioned that the community would decide on further steps after holding consultations. The deceased leaves behind a wife and two children, with his wife currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.

Trader leaders described the incident as an act of “open terrorism” and expressed disappointment that no government official had reached out to them since the attack. They demanded that those responsible be punished under the law and that justice be ensured for Murtaza’s grieving family.
