CDA to Develop 350-Acre Wildlife Safari Park in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has given the green light to a new project aimed at creating a modern wildlife safari park covering 350 acres in Islamabad. This initiative is set to establish an international-standard ecotourism attraction within the capital city.

The safari park will be located in the Malpur Forestry Park area, situated along Murree Road near Bhara Kahu. The CDA has finalized the design plans and emphasized that construction will proceed without damaging the environment or disrupting the existing natural forests in the region.

Designed to accommodate 3,605 animals, the park will be divided into 10 distinct safari and wildlife sanctuary zones. Notably, it will feature Pakistan’s largest ungulate safari zone, spanning over 1,000 kanals. Additionally, dedicated enclosures will be created for big cats such as lions, tigers, bears, and hyenas within a specialized zone.

Further plans include sanctuaries tailored for crocodiles, rhinoceroses, elephants, and hippopotamuses. A cutting-edge wildlife care complex will provide medical treatment, complemented by veterinary and quarantine facilities that meet international standards.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of attractions, including a digital museum, a one-kilometer forest canopy walk, and a two-kilometer chairlift track. The park will also feature a koi fish pond, a natural lake, and a bridge walk. Family-friendly amenities will include a jungle-themed play area and a zipline for children.

The central area of the park will host a safari village, lodges, and recreational centers. Moreover, a dedicated food street connected directly to Murree Road will offer multiple dining options. The CDA anticipates that this project will transform Islamabad into a premier destination for world-class safari tourism upon its completion.
