A tragic incident unfolded in Karachi’s DHA Phase 6 when a speeding vehicle lost control and crashed into a tent set up for a religious gathering near Saba Avenue on Sunday night. The collision resulted in the death of a minor girl on Monday, who had been receiving treatment at a private hospital.

The car initially struck pedestrians before plowing into the canopy outside an imambargah, injuring 11 people in total. Initial reports had indicated five injured, but the number rose as more victims were admitted to hospitals. Currently, seven injured individuals remain under medical care at two separate hospitals.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Mehzor Ali confirmed that the driver and two other individuals were taken into custody shortly after the crash. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Asad Raza stated that a case has been registered based on the complaint of the imambargah’s security in-charge under sections related to terrorism and attempted murder.

CCTV footage reveals the vehicle entering the road at high speed around 9:26 pm before losing control. The video shows the car hitting pedestrians and then crashing through the temporary tent, with bystanders fleeing the scene to avoid harm.

In a significant development, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took immediate notice of the accident and requested a detailed report from the Additional Inspector General of Police. During a briefing, it was disclosed that the vehicle’s brakes appeared to have failed, causing the driver to lose control.

CM Murad ordered the police to impound the vehicle, ensure the prompt arrest of the driver, and submit a thorough inquiry report on the circumstances surrounding the crash. He also expressed prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Authorities continue to investigate whether the crash was caused by mechanical failure or driver negligence as the inquiry progresses.
