The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary gas supply suspension in various Karachi localities, notably all blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, to complete the final connection of a high-pressure gas pipeline associated with the K-IV Project.
Re-routing of the 20-inch diameter pipeline along University Road, between Nipa Bridge and Essa Nagri DMS near Hassan Square, has already been finalized. Meanwhile, the crucial final hook-up is scheduled overnight from June 20 to 21, necessitating a planned gas outage.
During this operation, gas supply will be interrupted in multiple areas, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Notably, temporary disruptions may also impact Karachi Central Prison, Aga Khan University Hospital, Liaquat National Hospital, and Medicare Hospital during nighttime hours.
SSGC teams will commence work at 10pm on Saturday, continuing until 10am Sunday. The company has committed to completing the task within this timeframe and restoring gas service as promptly as possible.
In a significant development, the utility expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to consumers due to this essential maintenance activity.
