A Turkish defence delegation visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday. During the visit, they received a comprehensive briefing on Pakistan’s disaster preparedness framework, early warning systems, and the institutional capacity for emergency response.

Officials from NDMA detailed the country’s disaster risk reduction strategies, the operations of the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), and the integration of technology for early warnings and real-time coordination during crises. Chairman NDMA Inam Haider emphasized the critical role of data-driven planning and timely alert dissemination in reducing casualties and property damage.

He also highlighted the significance of international cooperation in building resilience against both natural and human-induced disasters. In a significant development, both parties explored opportunities to deepen bilateral collaboration, focusing on disaster management, search and rescue operations, and capacity building initiatives.

It was agreed that Pakistan and Türkiye would enhance joint efforts and exchange best practices to improve emergency response mechanisms. The Turkish delegation praised the advanced systems implemented by NDMA and lauded the operational efficiency and coordinated structure of Pakistan’s NEOC.

Furthermore, the delegation expressed a strong commitment to bolstering practical cooperation with Pakistan in disaster preparedness and humanitarian response, particularly through expanded training programs and institutional partnerships. Officials noted that this visit underscored the increasing engagement between the two nations in emergency management and disaster resilience.
