Five Suspected Terrorists Killed in CTD Gunfight Near Attock Border

Near the border area of Attock in Punjab, at least five suspected militants lost their lives on Tuesday during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). The operation escalated into a fierce gunfight after the suspects opened fire on the police team attempting to arrest them.

A CTD spokesperson confirmed that the personnel responded in self-defense, resulting in the deaths of the five militants. These individuals were reportedly planning significant terror attacks across various parts of Punjab.

Following the clash, forensic teams and security forces recovered a suicide vest, hand grenades, two submachine guns, a substantial quantity of ammunition, and explosive materials from the site.

Authorities are currently in the process of identifying the deceased militants. In the aftermath, security forces sealed off the border sectors of Attock and nearby areas, launching an intensified search operation to apprehend any remaining accomplices or facilitators.

This operation follows a major counter-terrorism sweep conducted three days earlier, during which Pakistani security forces eliminated 21 militants in multiple intelligence-based raids in Miran Shah and surrounding regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
