Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif addressed the National Assembly on Monday, describing Pakistan’s current phase as a “historic moment.” He attributed the country’s progress to the restraint, wisdom, and coordinated efforts of both political and military leadership, which have been crucial in advancing a successful peace process.
He emphasized the tireless work of the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal, who have labored “day and night” to foster this progress. Asif noted that enhanced institutional collaboration between Rawalpindi and Islamabad played a key role in overcoming a challenging period.
Highlighting the significance of recent achievements, the Defence Minister referred to Pakistan’s success in what he called the “Ma’raka-e-Haq,” expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for a notable rise in the nation’s honour and prestige after many years. He framed these developments as a “diplomatic war for peace,” in which Pakistan has emerged victorious.
Furthermore, Asif pointed out that the country is concurrently engaged in an economic struggle, expressing optimism about eventual success in this arena as well. He stressed the importance of national unity and collective determination in combating terrorism, describing it as a “war of the entire nation.”
Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq congratulated the members of the House, expressing thankfulness to Allah for Pakistan’s pivotal role in preventing a broader global conflict. He called this achievement a source of “pride and honour.”
Sadiq acknowledged the contributions of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in the diplomatic process. He also praised Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and National Security Adviser Asim Malik, recognizing their instrumental roles in reaching this outcome.
In a notable statement, Ayaz Sadiq suggested that Pakistan’s leadership “deserved the Nobel Prize” for their efforts in promoting peace and stabilizing the regional situation, underscoring the significance of the country’s diplomatic and security initiatives.
