Quetta Wahdat Colony Suspect Dies After Attempted Suicide in Hospital

A man accused of murdering his wife and four children before attempting to take his own life in Quetta’s Wahdat Colony has died at a private hospital on Wednesday. The suspect, identified as Asif Khan, had been receiving intensive medical care since the incident occurred on Monday.

Hospital officials confirmed that Khan was declared brain dead shortly after admission, but his heart continued to beat independently. Despite this, doctors maintained life support until it was determined that recovery was impossible, leading to the removal of ventilator assistance.

Remarkably, Khan’s heart continued to function for two days after life support was withdrawn, finally stopping at approximately 1:30 pm on Wednesday, when he was officially pronounced dead. This followed initial confusion at the scene, where police had mistakenly announced his death before he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Authorities have confirmed that after completing all necessary legal and forensic procedures, Khan’s body has been released to his family for burial. Meanwhile, the funeral prayers and burial of his wife and four children took place the previous day, attended by mourning relatives and local community members.

The tragic event has deeply affected the provincial capital, and police continue to investigate the motives and circumstances surrounding the killings and the subsequent suicide attempt.
