Heatwave to Continue Across Pakistan Until June 12, Rain Forecast in North

Pakistan is set to endure rising temperatures over the next several days, with heatwave conditions predicted to persist in many areas until June 12, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced.

Daytime temperatures in the northern parts of the country are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average, while plains and southern regions could see temperatures 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than usual.

The intense heatwave will continue to affect major urban centers, including Islamabad, where hot weather is forecast through Tuesday. Northern Punjab and several districts in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also experience dry and scorching conditions.

In Sindh province, most districts such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana are likely to endure sustained high temperatures. Authorities have urged the public to limit exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours and to stay well hydrated to mitigate heat-related health risks.

In a significant development, despite the ongoing heatwave, rain is expected to arrive in Islamabad on June 11 and 12. Similar rainfall is forecast for northern Punjab regions including Rawalpindi and Lahore.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also projected precipitation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab during this period. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are anticipated in Zhob and Musa Khel, while Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, and Abbottabad are likely to receive showers on June 11 and 12.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are expected to experience rainfall starting June 12, which should provide some relief from the prevailing hot weather conditions.
