In a significant development, three suspects linked to the assault on former provincial minister and PML-N MPA Ayub Gadhi were killed during a police operation in Rajana town, located in Punjab’s Toba Tek Singh district. The Crime Control Department (CCD) team carried out the raid on Monday aiming to apprehend those involved.
As the CCD personnel approached, the suspects opened fire indiscriminately. In response, the CCD team returned fire, resulting in the deaths of three suspects, while two others were taken into custody. The spokesperson for the CCD confirmed the identities of the deceased as those who had attacked Gadhi’s residence last month.
During that earlier incident, Gadhi sustained injuries, and four of his associates were killed. Following the attack, he was admitted to the DHQ Hospital for treatment, as confirmed by the Toba Tek Singh district police officer (DPO).
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz promptly ordered investigations into the shooting. The prime minister emphasized the need to identify the perpetrators and ensure they face justice. CM Maryam Nawaz expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed officials to provide the best medical care for those injured.
