The District Returning Officer (DRO) has announced that all arrangements for the upcoming general elections in Chilas have been successfully completed. This marks a significant milestone in ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process in the district.
In total, 173 polling stations have been established throughout the district, covering four constituencies. These include 68 stations designated for male voters, 67 for female voters, and 38 combined polling stations to accommodate all voters efficiently. To further facilitate the voting process, 381 polling booths have been set up across the district, aiming to maintain an uninterrupted flow of voters on election day.
The DRO highlighted that approximately 160,000 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this election. To guarantee security and order, all administrative bodies, along with police and law enforcement agencies, will remain vigilant throughout the process. Notably, personnel from the Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts, police, Rangers, and additional police forces have been deployed to oversee election duties and maintain peace.
Meanwhile, the logistics for the election are progressing rapidly. The transfer of polling staff and distribution of election materials are underway, with some teams already dispatched to their designated locations. The remaining teams are expected to be deployed within the next two hours. Polling is scheduled to commence at 8:00 AM tomorrow and will continue without interruption until 5:00 PM, ensuring ample time for all voters to participate in the democratic process.
