The federal government has earmarked Rs2 billion for the Ministry of Law and Justice in the upcoming 2026-27 budget, prioritizing both ongoing and new judicial infrastructure projects across Pakistan. Out of this total, Rs1.18 billion is allocated for projects currently underway, while Rs820 million is designated for fresh initiatives.

A substantial portion of the new funding will be used to develop judicial buildings and residences, underscoring a continued commitment to enhancing the judiciary’s physical infrastructure. Notably, Rs300 million is set aside for constructing residences for judges of the Federal Constitutional Court.

Additionally, Rs500 million has been allocated for acquiring land, building boundary walls, and establishing guard rooms for the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court and other judges’ residences. A further Rs20 million is proposed to support scrutiny and verification activities related to the Islamabad High Court judges’ housing project.

The budget also includes Rs228.306 million for building a facilitation centre at the Islamabad High Court and Rs261.765 million for a litigants facilitation centre within Islamabad’s district judiciary. For the Supreme Court, Rs295.102 million will be used to extend its branch registry in Karachi, while Rs226.659 million is planned for constructing an administrative block at the Quetta branch registry.

In Peshawar, Rs39.176 million is allocated for the construction of a camp office for the Federal Shariat Court, alongside Rs340.695 million for a new Federal Courts Complex, reflecting a focus on expanding judicial facilities in the region.

Smaller funding allocations include Rs16.885 million for reviewing the construction of offices for the Attorney General and Advocate General, Rs3.001 million for the ministry’s Planning and Monitoring Unit, and Rs16.773 million to support the automation of federal courts and tribunals.

Meanwhile, the ministry has proposed Rs50 million to enhance capacity building for the legal wings within the Ministry of Law and Justice and other federal ministries and divisions. Furthermore, Rs12.222 million is dedicated to digitising records and legislation, aiming to modernize judicial processes and improve service delivery for litigants across the country.
