Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is scheduled to meet with his colleagues today at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The list of individuals authorized to visit him has been submitted by Chaudhry Owais Younis, the focal person, to the jail authorities.
For an extended period, Imran Khan’s family members and party associates have been barred from meeting him. Notably, earlier this week, both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Imran Khan’s sister were denied access to visit him in jail. The Chief Minister has since announced plans to hold a sit-in protest outside the National Assembly on June 10 in response to these restrictions.
In a significant development, Imran Khan was arrested for the second time in August 2023 and sentenced to three years in prison for failing to disclose income from the sale of gifts received during his tenure in office. Subsequently, in January 2024, he received a 10-year sentence for leaking state secrets and an additional 14-year sentence on separate corruption charges. Further sentencing in January 2025 added another 14 years in prison related to a different corruption case.
The list submitted by Chaudhry Owais Younis includes Seemabia Tahir, Usman Jora, Assad Abbas, Malik Yasir Patwali, Roohul Amin, Malik Azeem, and Rohail Anjum, all of whom are permitted to meet Imran Khan today.
These associates have been granted entry to Central Jail Adiala to hold their meeting with Imran Khan at 2:00 PM on Thursday.
