A delegation representing the Christian community held a meeting on Tuesday with Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar to address issues concerning minority rights, legal reforms, and the welfare of minority groups.

During the discussions, the delegation expressed appreciation for the government’s ongoing dedication to protecting the rights of minority communities across Pakistan. They particularly welcomed recent legislative progress, including the Child Marriage Restraint Act, and praised the National Commission for Minorities for its efforts in promoting equal opportunities and safeguarding minority rights.

Federal Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar emphasized the significance of consultative processes in driving comprehensive legal and policy reforms. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding equal rights and opportunities for all citizens as enshrined in the Constitution.

The meeting also involved in-depth conversations about challenges faced by minority communities, with a special focus on the Christian community’s concerns. Discussions included relevant legal and policy frameworks, such as Christian personal laws. It was agreed that consultations would continue to further evaluate recommendations and establish an effective mechanism to resolve pending issues.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar reiterated the government’s determination to protect minority rights. He highlighted that engaging with representatives from diverse communities ensures their perspectives are incorporated into policymaking. He also stressed the government’s commitment to fostering interfaith harmony, equal citizenship, and an inclusive society where every citizen can contribute to national progress free from discrimination.
