Former actor Nick Pasqual has returned to public attention following a landmark ruling by a California court in a case that has drawn significant media coverage since 2024. Pasqual, known for a guest role on the television series How I Met Your Mother, received a sentence of 32 years to life imprisonment after being found guilty of the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn.
The sentencing marks the conclusion of a case stemming from a violent incident nearly two years ago, when Pasqual allegedly broke into Shehorn’s residence in Los Angeles and launched a brutal knife assault. Despite sustaining over 20 stab wounds, Shehorn survived the attack, which prosecutors linked to a history of domestic violence.
During the trial, it was revealed that Shehorn had previously obtained a restraining order against Pasqual. She recounted a prior violent episode that precipitated the end of their relationship, describing how Pasqual had aggressively punched through a locked door, forcing her to seek refuge behind an additional locked bathroom door.
Pasqual had also been arrested earlier for an alleged domestic violence incident involving Shehorn and was released on $50,000 bail just five days before the stabbing occurred. Shehorn, a respected makeup artist with credits including Mean Girls, Rebel Moon, and Babylon, appeared in court bearing visible scars from the attack.
Although Pasqual’s acting career was limited to a few roles, his association with How I Met Your Mother has reignited public interest in the case following the sentencing. This verdict closes one of the most harrowing domestic violence cases to emerge from Hollywood in recent years, nearly two years after the life-threatening assault on Shehorn.
