NAB Transfers Rs6 Billion in Recovered Assets to KP Government

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) transferred assets valued at more than Rs6 billion to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday. These assets were recovered from suspects involved in the high-profile Kohistan corruption case.

In a formal ceremony held in Peshawar, NAB Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed handed over the recovered assets to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah. The assets delivered in this initial phase include cash, gold, real estate, and luxury vehicles, all retrieved following an extensive investigation into the case.

Notably, Nazir Ahmed revealed that the alleged fraud involved the misappropriation of over Rs37 billion in public funds. Investigators conducted forensic analyses of more than 1,500 bank accounts to trace the flow of money and dismantle what was described as a sophisticated corruption network.

Meanwhile, efforts to recover further assets connected to the case remain ongoing. The Kohistan corruption case stands as one of the largest financial irregularity probes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent years, centering on the embezzlement of government funds through a complex web of bank accounts and beneficiaries.
