Pakistan Opt to Field First in 2nd ODI Against Australia in Lahore

In a significant development during the ongoing cricket series, Pakistan won the toss and decided to field first in the second One Day International (ODI) against Australia, held in Lahore. This strategic decision came as the Shaheens sought to capitalize on their momentum after a convincing victory in the series opener.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi confirmed that the team would maintain the same playing XI that secured a five-wicket win in the first ODI. On the other hand, Australia made a tactical change by introducing leg-spinner Adam Zampa, replacing fast bowler Billy Stanlake in their lineup. This adjustment reflects Australia’s intent to strengthen their bowling attack in response to Pakistan’s batting prowess.

Leading the series 1-0, Pakistan had demonstrated strong performance in the opening match held in Rawalpindi. Australia was restricted to 200 runs in 44.1 overs, with debutant Arafat Minhas making an impressive impact by taking five wickets for 32 runs. This bowling effort was instrumental in limiting Australia’s total.

During the chase, Pakistan’s batsmen displayed composure and skill, reaching the target of 201 runs with five wickets down in 42.3 overs. Notably, Babar Azam contributed 69 runs, while Ghazi Ghori added 65, combining for a crucial 127-run partnership that steered Pakistan to victory comfortably with 45 balls remaining. This strong start has set the stage for an exciting second ODI as Pakistan aims to consolidate their lead in the three-match series.
