Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, is set to arrive in Pakistan on Monday for an official visit focused on strengthening bilateral relations and deepening political cooperation.
Invited by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Kallas’s visit underscores the ongoing momentum of high-level political exchanges between Islamabad and Brussels. During her stay, she will co-chair the eighth session of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue alongside Foreign Minister Dar. This dialogue represents the primary institutional platform for structured, high-level discussions, providing a comprehensive framework to review and enhance bilateral relations.
In addition to the strategic dialogue, Kallas is scheduled to meet separately with Pakistan’s senior leadership. She will hold talks with both the President and the Prime Minister, focusing on regional security, economic cooperation, and other shared interests. These discussions aim to reinforce the institutional frameworks that govern Pakistan-EU relations and are expected to address pressing global challenges, climate resilience, and regional stability in South Asia.
Pakistan and the European Union maintain a longstanding, multifaceted partnership built on strong economic ties, shared values, and a mutual commitment to multilateralism. The EU continues to be one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners, largely supported by preferential trade agreements.
Officials from Pakistan’s Foreign Office have emphasized the importance Islamabad places on its relationship with the EU. Both sides view this visit as a significant opportunity to explore new areas of collaboration while further consolidating their existing strategic partnership.
