Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday. He was warmly welcomed at Nur Khan Airbase by President Asif Ali Zardari, with First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also in attendance. Children dressed in traditional cultural costumes greeted the dignitary by presenting flowers upon his arrival.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and several senior officials were present to receive the prince. Later, at the President’s House, Prince Rahim was honored with a guard of honor and stood alongside President Zardari during the national anthem.

In a significant development, the Aga Khan is scheduled to visit various locations in Gilgit Baltistan from May 21 to 25. During this visit, he will participate in public gatherings and address multiple ceremonies. He will be granted the status of a state guest throughout his stay.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam received a comprehensive briefing during a high-level meeting held in Gilgit last Friday. The meeting highlighted expectations of large crowds in Passu in Hunza, Gilgit City, Gahkuch Bala, and Taus Yasin, with thousands anticipated to attend the events.

Officials also indicated that, due to the expected influx, multiple sessions might be organized at some venues to accommodate attendees. Additionally, directives were issued to ensure an uninterrupted power supply in Upper Hunza and surrounding areas during the visit.

The administration is also planning to provide extra transportation facilities for visitors and is considering special relaxations in travel timings to facilitate smooth movement throughout the region during the prince’s stay.
