US President Donald Trump characterized his recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping as “a great meeting,” indicating a potential alignment between the two leaders on the escalating Iran issue. This development comes amid growing tensions between Washington and Tehran following the US rejection of Iran’s response to a recent deal proposal.
Speaking to reporters in California, Trump described Xi as “a great guy” and expressed optimism that Beijing might back his stance on critical matters concerning Iran. He also suggested that Xi could be open to enhanced cooperation on the issue.
In the course of the interview, Trump made several broad statements regarding foreign policy, noting that various international players are engaged in activities related to Iran. He referred to those operating in the region as “brave,” and included himself in that characterization for confronting complex global challenges.
Reflecting on America’s past military involvements, Trump mentioned the US engagements in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq, asserting that these missions aimed to “save people” and bring stability over extended periods. He further claimed that US forces had effectively “taken over” many of the countries where they were deployed.
Regarding Iran, Trump stated that the country is “completely destroyed” and predicted significant changes in the coming years under his leadership vision.
Additionally, he briefly acknowledged US law enforcement agencies, commending personnel within the FBI and Department of Justice for their work.
