Pakistan and Russia recently convened the 16th session of the Russia-Pakistan Consultative Group on Strategic Stability in Moscow, marking another step in their ongoing dialogue on critical security issues. This high-level meeting provided a platform for both nations to exchange perspectives on international security, global stability, and arms control challenges that continue to shape the geopolitical landscape.

The discussions were jointly led by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and Pakistan’s Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Hussain Andrabi. Their leadership underscored the importance both countries place on maintaining open channels of communication and cooperation in the realm of strategic stability.

During the extensive talks, the delegations reviewed significant topics related to arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation efforts. They also addressed broader international security concerns, reflecting a shared commitment to tackling complex global challenges. Notably, both sides recognized a strong alignment in their approaches to these issues, reinforcing their mutual dedication to continued collaboration.

In a significant development, Pakistan and Russia agreed to sustain their engagement through future meetings, with plans to hold the 17th Consultative Group session next year in Islamabad. This ongoing dialogue highlights the evolving partnership between the two countries as they work together to promote strategic stability and contribute to international peace efforts.
